It’s called the “Voice of Logan” contest, and it’s pretty neat.

Organized by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), this unique competition is all about finding a real, genuine Massachusetts resident, 18 years or older, who can truly capture the spirit of the Commonwealth. So, how does one even begin to throw their hat (or rather, their voice) into the ring? It’s pretty straightforward, really. Aspiring airport announcers need to submit a video audition, keeping it nice and concise—no longer than 60 seconds. They’re accepting submissions from September 14, 2026, right up until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 4, 2026. Oh, and here’s a crucial detail: no artificial intelligence or voice-altering technology allowed. They want your authentic voice, which, let’s be honest, is a refreshing change in today's world.

Now, about that script! Contestants aren’t just ad-libbing. There’s a specific, wonderfully Boston-centric passage they need to recite. It goes like this: “Welcome to Boston Logan International Airport—front door to the capital of heart, hustle and hometown pride. This city runs on iced coffee, raw ambition and unbeatable team spirit. So let's go. Whether you're grabbing a lobster roll by the harbor, waiting in line for a cannoli in the North End, heading out to Gloucester for a little salt air or paying respects to the Green Monster like it's a sacred landmark (because it is)—we're wicked glad you're here.” Just reading that, you can practically smell the ocean and hear the cheers from Fenway, can’t you?

Beyond the voice, they also want to know why you’re the perfect fit. A brief written statement explaining your connection to the “Voice of Logan” and why you should be chosen is also a must. And remember, it's strictly one entry per person – make it count!

Massport even kicked things off with a special event on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Terminal A, giving folks a chance to learn more and perhaps even get some pointers. Rich Davey himself was there, alongside WBZ NewsRadio reporter Matt Shearer and Billy & Lisa in the Morning co-host Lisa Donovan, offering their wisdom as ambassadors and coaches.

The judging process sounds pretty thorough, too. They’re looking for a strong “Boston Logan Vibe” (that’s 40% of the score, so it's a big one!), crystal clarity (20%), smooth delivery (20%), the ability to “Keep It Real” (10%), and your compelling “Why You?” statement (10%).

Once all the submissions are in, judges will narrow it down to five finalists, who’ll then participate in a live audition event in mid-October. This is where it gets really exciting! While the live audition accounts for a hefty 80% of the final score, the public also gets a say.
