Young Woman on Ventilator After Police Clash at CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ Protest

On Monday, thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) tried to march toward Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged leaks in the NEET‑UG 2026 paper. The rally, which was billed as ‘Chalo Sansad’, soon spiraled into a chaotic clash with police.

In the melee, a young woman — her name has not been disclosed — was caught in the cross‑fire. Witnesses say she was struck by a baton and later fell unconscious. By the time emergency services reached her, she was having trouble breathing, prompting doctors to place her on a ventilator.

She was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where she now lies in the intensive‑care unit. Hospital staff confirmed that she is receiving ventilatory support and constant monitoring, but they have withheld further medical details pending family consent.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister J P Nadda made a surprise visit to RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital on Tuesday. He met with senior physicians, reviewed the condition of the injured protesters and reassured the media that every effort is being made to provide appropriate treatment.

According to Delhi Police, more than 118 officers and around 60 demonstrators were injured during the confrontation. The police say they were forced to resort to force after some protesters allegedly tried to breach barricades and block the entry to the Parliament complex.

The incident has reignited a political debate. Opposition leaders are condemning what they call “excessive police brutality,” while the government argues that the force was necessary to maintain law and order.

As the young woman fights for her life, families of the injured are petitioning the authorities for a transparent inquiry. The protest, which started over alleged examination irregularities, now carries the weight of a serious humanitarian concern.
