He’s expected at the city’s Police Lines ‘Safe House’ around 5:00 PM, where a brief, roughly twenty‑minute meeting with senior officials and local representatives is pencilled in. The agenda? A quick run‑through of the current flood picture and a check‑in on the relief machinery that’s been set in motion. After the sit‑down, the minister will swing by a makeshift relief camp set up on a college campus, handing out essential kits to families still coping with the mess.

Before heading back to Lucknow, Yogi plans a short pause at the iconic Kaal Bhairav and Vishwanath temples – a nod to the city’s spiritual heartbeat. He should be on his way out of Varanasi by about 7:30 PM.

The flood story itself is a mixed bag. While the Ganga’s level has begun to retreat, giving residents a sliver of breathing room, the Kosi River’s surge has drenched parts of Moradabad’s Mundha Pande area, turning roads into waterways and forcing people onto boats that the administration has provisioned.

Just a day earlier, in Farrukhabad, the chief minister pledged a “permanent solution” to the recurring deluge. Speaking to flood‑affected families, he underscored efforts to safeguard both people and livestock – ordering fodder, vaccinations and medicines for cattle on what he called a “war‑footing”.

Back in Varanasi, municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal took a boat ride through the flooded Salarpur ward, eyeballing sanitation and relief setups. He urged officials to clear debris from the Varuna River banks, step up fogging and insecticide spraying, and hand out chlorine tablets so households can disinfect their water.

Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari also prowled the low‑lying zones by motorboat, while District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar toured relief camps, stressing the need for round‑the‑clock medical support, ample food supplies and special care for children, the elderly and expectant mothers.
