Yash Swaps Rs 100 Crore Acting Fee for South‑India Distribution Rights in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1

After the high‑octane launch of Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown‑Ups in late August, Yash is gearing up for what could be the biggest gamble of his career. Reports suggest the Kannada superstar has walked away from a promised acting fee of around ₹100 crore for his role as the legendary Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s two‑part adaptation of the Hindu epic.

Instead of cash, Yash appears to have taken the South Indian distribution rights for both installments of the film. In plain terms, he will be the guy who sells the movie across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and the rest of the southern market, and he’ll earn whatever the box‑office brings.

It’s a bold move. The original remuneration plan, floated back in 2025, would have made the Ravana role one of the most highly paid ever in Indian cinema. By swapping that fixed sum for a share of the theatrical business, Yash is essentially betting that the epic will resonate with audiences enough to outweigh the guaranteed payout.

Beyond the financial gamble, the arrangement signals Yash’s deepening interest in the production side of things. His banner, Monster Mind Creations, is co‑producing the film alongside Prime Focus Studios, led by Namit Malhotra. This dual role—as actor and co‑producer—gives him a larger stake in the film’s overall success.

Directed by the Oscar‑nominated Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 brings together a star‑studded cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and veteran Arun Govil as King Dasharath. The film is slated for a Diwali release on 6 November 2026, with a multilingual rollout that includes an English version.

Yash’s recent outing, Toxic, opened to a thunderous ₹101.10 crore net on day one, but its earnings tapered sharply over the following week. The contrast between that roller‑coaster performance and the potential of a mythic blockbuster like Ramayana makes the actor’s new deal all the more intriguing.
