Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max receive official certifications

It looks like Xiaomi’s next flagship foldable is finally stepping out of the rumor mill. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China has officially certified a device bearing the model code 2608BPX34C – the tentative “Mix Fold 5”.

What we can gather so far is that the new Mix Fold will be a bit wider than its predecessor, echoing the dimensions of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s iPhone Ultra. The main display is said to stretch to a 7.6‑inch diagonal when unfolded, giving gamers and binge‑watchers a genuine tablet‑like canvas.

Under the hood, Xiaomi is reportedly leaning on its home‑grown Xring O3 chipset, the successor to the Xring O1 that debuted last year. Paired with Android 17 and the freshly unveiled HyperOS 4 skin, the phone should feel snappy enough for everyday multitasking.

On the camera front, a massive 200 MP primary sensor is rumored, while power‑hungry users will appreciate the promised 6,000 mAh battery and a side‑mounted fingerprint reader for quick unlocks.

Meanwhile, halfway across the globe, Thailand’s NBTC has approved two more Xiaomi products: the global Redmi Note 17 and its bigger brother, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The certifications list the model numbers 26081RA18G and 2609FRA74G respectively, but they don’t spill many technical details.

From previous NCC and Eurofins filings we can piece together a decent picture. The Note 17 Pro Max is expected to pack a staggering 9,210 mAh battery, support 100 W fast charging, and carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. As for memory and storage, Xiaomi will likely offer four combos – 8 GB + 256 GB, 8 GB + 512 GB, 12 GB + 256 GB, and 12 GB + 512 GB.

The standard Note 17 appears to mirror its Chinese sibling, except for a slightly smaller 7,700 mAh cell (the Chinese version uses an 8,000 mAh unit). That battery size will also be seen in the Indian market, where Xiaomi plans to launch the phone on August 6.

All in all, the certifications hint that Xiaomi is gearing up for a busy second half of 2026, with a high‑end foldable and a powerful mid‑range lineup ready to hit shelves worldwide.
