Woman Hospitalized After Bottle Attack in Ottawa’s ByWard Market

It was a typical bustling night on ByWard Market Thursday, with tourists snapping photos and locals grabbing dinner, when the rhythm of the street was shattered—literally.

According to witnesses, a woman in her early thirties was suddenly hit by a large piece of broken glass from a bottle that had been thrown from an unknown source. The fragment struck her arm and face, sending her sprawling onto the sidewalk.

“I heard a loud crack and turned to see a shard of glass land on the floor,” one onlooker recounted. “She was on the ground, shaking, and people started to panic.”

Paramedics arrived within minutes, assessing the injuries as a deep laceration to the forearm and a minor cut above the eye. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital for stitches and monitoring.
