Winter's Encore: Metro Detroit Greets More Snow to Wrap Up the Weekend

Well, wouldn't you know it? Just when many of us were perhaps hoping to put away the shovels for a little while, Metro Detroit is getting another dose of that classic January weather. We're talking more snow, folks, and it looks set to sweep across the region as we wind down the weekend.

It seems winter isn't quite ready to release its grip, is it? After a rather chilly Saturday that saw some flurries here and there, a more organized band of snow is making its way toward us. Expect this new system to really start making its presence felt throughout Sunday, adding a fresh, albeit perhaps modest, layer to our already snow-dusted landscapes.

Now, we're not necessarily talking about a record-breaking blizzard here, but it's certainly enough to impact travel and make things a bit slick on the roads. Drivers, you'll want to take extra precautions out there, allowing plenty of extra time and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles. Those untreated secondary roads especially could become quite tricky.

Beyond the fresh flakes, the air itself is going to remain quite brisk. Temperatures are expected to stay stubbornly in the lower 20s for much of Sunday, and with any bit of wind, those 'feels like' temperatures will dip even lower. So, if you're venturing out, layering up is definitely the order of the day. Hats, gloves, scarves – you know the drill.

Looking ahead, it appears this latest snowfall will be the weekend's grand finale, at least for significant precipitation. We should see things clear up a bit as we head into the new week, though the cold snap isn't going anywhere fast.
