Westminster Christian Academy Volleyball: An Undefeated Dream Season Unfolds

There's just something special brewing at Westminster Christian Academy (WCA) in Opelousas this year. Seriously, you can feel it in the air, especially around their girls' varsity volleyball team. They're not just winning; they're absolutely dominating, kicking off their 2026 season with what can only be described as a perfect, spotless record. As of late September, this squad was sitting pretty at an astounding 15-0, sweeping aside every single opponent in their path. It’s not just a good start; it’s being hailed as arguably the best start in the entire state!

You know, it’s one thing to win a few games, but to be truly undefeated at this point in the season? That takes a special kind of grit and talent. They really showed their mettle at the Ruston Tournament, walking away with a flawless 5-0 record there. And if you needed more proof, just look at their incredible performance on October 3rd. They didn’t just win; they handled Slidell High School with a clean 2-0 sweep and then battled Mandeville High School, emerging victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win. These aren’t just small victories; these are statements.

So, who’s behind this incredible run, you might wonder? Well, it’s a true team effort, but some players are definitely stepping up big time. Senior Sophia Wiltz, for instance, has been absolutely instrumental. She’s often the one leading the charge, and if you saw her deliver that game-winning kill in a crucial Set 3 recently, you’d understand the energy she brings. In an interview, she just radiated that collective team energy, a feeling echoed by her teammates.

And speaking of teammates, the whole squad seems to be on the same page, really clicking. Anna Camille Maloz consistently provides stellar leadership, a steady hand on the court. Aden McGee embodies sheer hard work, always pushing herself and those around her. Izzy Guy speaks passionately about the team's unity, that sense of being one cohesive unit, while Kennedy Richard points to their undeniable chemistry as a major factor in their success. Even those supporting from the bench, like Sarah Abrams and Marley Green, are integral, their presence and encouragement vital. It’s a true family out there, a culture nurtured by their coach, who has spoken highly of the senior leadership and the team’s competitive fire.

This isn't just about accumulating wins; it’s about a shared vision. These young women are playing for something bigger, something they've clearly articulated: a state championship. They understand the importance of that chemistry, that bond that transcends individual talent. They’re not just hoping to win; they're playing to win, with every serve, every dig, every spike. And honestly, watching them play, it feels like they’re absolutely on the right track to make that dream a reality. The rest of the season promises to be nothing short of thrilling, and WCA Opelousas is certainly a team to watch.
