Western Ghats Lit Fest Lights Up Coimbatore

Fifth edition of the Western Ghats Lit Fest to be held Oct 24‑25 at Radisson Blu, featuring royalty, scholars and the launch of a new policy forum

Coimbatore will host the 5th Western Ghats Lit Fest on October 24‑25, bringing together authors, artists and dignitaries, and unveiling the Verandah SMaRT Awards and Arthasasthra forum.

Coimbatore’s Radisson Blu is set to transform into a bustling literary hub on October 24 and 25, as the fifth edition of the Western Ghats Lit Fest rolls into town. Organized by The Verandah Club, the two‑day celebration promises a lively mix of writers, scholars, artists and journalists, all gathered under the banner “Bharat Rising”.

One of the most eye‑catching names on the roster is Padmasri Padmanabha Sevini Ashwathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bayi, a member of the historic Travancore royal family. Her presence adds a regal touch to an event that already feels like a meeting of minds and hearts.

Adding to the gravitas, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will present the second edition of the Verandah SMaRT Awards. These awards recognize individuals and organisations that have made notable contributions to literature, culture and public discourse.

The line‑up of speakers is nothing short of impressive—36 voices will take the stage, including Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice‑Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit and Professor J. Jeganaathan of the School of International Studies. Their talks are expected to spark thoughtful conversations on everything from contemporary Indian narratives to global policy trends.

In a move that signals the festival’s expanding scope, The Verandah Club will also launch “Arthasasthra – a Policy Forum” during the event. This new platform aims to bridge the gap between literary thought and actionable policy, fostering dialogue that could influence the region’s socio‑economic landscape.

All in all, the Western Ghats Lit Fest promises not just books and readings, but a rich tapestry of ideas, celebrations, and perhaps a few surprises that only a vibrant city like Coimbatore can deliver.
