Visakhapatnam Set to Host Its First‑Ever AP Chambers Business Expo

Visakhapatnam is gearing up for a three‑day showcase that could well become a milestone for the city’s commercial landscape. From September 11 to 13, the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) will stage its first Business Expo right here, an event aimed squarely at the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Speaking at a modest gathering on Old Jail Road on July 25, District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore unveiled the expo brochure and, with palpable enthusiasm, urged entrepreneurs, investors and government officials to treat the occasion as a “hub of opportunities and employment”. He reminded the audience that the city’s development should be all‑round – from heavy industry to the little shops that keep neighbourhoods alive.

According to the Collector, Andhra Pradesh now draws about a quarter of all investment flowing into India, and a sizeable slice of that capital finds its way into the former Visakhapatnam district. “The Visakhapatnam Economic Region and the Bay City concept are getting special focus from the state”, Kishore said, hinting at ambitious plans to transform the coastal stretch into a smart, sustainable urban hub.

AP Chambers’ Visakhapatnam Zone chairman P. Sobhan Prakash and State Secretary R. Subba Rao echoed the sentiment, pointing out that MSMEs form the backbone of the state’s economy. They said the expo would offer a platform for these firms to display innovations, meet potential buyers and tap into financing options.

While the event is still a few weeks away, the buzz is already building. Organisers promise exhibition stalls, panel discussions and networking sessions that will bring together local start‑ups, established manufacturers and policy‑makers. For many small business owners, it could be the spark that turns a modest venture into a regional player.

Visakhapatnam’s residents can also look forward to a glimpse of the city’s future as a “Bay City” – a vision that blends maritime heritage with cutting‑edge infrastructure, green spaces and tech‑driven services. If the expo succeeds in rallying support, it might just be the first chapter of that story.
