Venue Shift: Latin Music Festival Moves Indoors in Stratford

Stratford’s annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage got a last‑minute shuffle. After a weekend storm forced organizers to postpone the event, the Town of Stratford and the Hispanic Heritage Committee announced that the 21st Annual Latin Music Festival will now roll out its colors under a roof.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 20, from noon until six p.m. The new home? The gymnasium at Stratford High School, 245 King Street. It may sound a little less festive than a park, but the organizers promise the spirit won’t be dampened.

Fans can still expect a jam‑packed afternoon: the smooth sounds of Orquesta Afinke, the upbeat rhythms of Agua Pa Chocolate, and dazzling performances by Ballet Folklórico Las Américas and the Danza Folklórico Group. The festival was originally slated for September 13, but a surprise thunderstorm over the previous weekend forced a postponement. Rather than risk another wash‑out, officials opted for the indoor venue, citing the forecast of inclement weather on the new date.
