As the monsoon intensified its grip, the serene landscapes of Uttarakhand, particularly Uttarkashi, are bracing for a period of extreme weather. Following a dire warning from the Meteorological Department, the Uttarkashi Police has issued a crucial safety advisory, urging both residents and visitors to exercise the utmost caution and, most importantly, to maintain a safe distance from rivers and drains.

The advisory comes in the wake of an 'Orange Alert' issued for several districts across Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Almora.

This alert signals the high probability of heavy to very heavy rainfall, a scenario that historically escalates the risks of devastating flash floods and treacherous landslides. The recent tragic events in Himachal Pradesh serve as a stark reminder of the immense power of nature and the critical importance of preparedness.

Those residing in areas prone to landslides or near riverbanks are advised to remain vigilant and consider relocating to safer ground if necessary. Construction workers and those involved in outdoor activities have also been asked to take extra precautions and cease work during heavy rainfall.
