Urgent Manhunt Underway: Police Scour Coniston for Hit-and-Run Driver After Three-Vehicle Crash

Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) has launched an urgent appeal to the public, seeking information and the driver of a pickup truck that callously fled the scene of a significant three-vehicle collision in Coniston last Friday afternoon.

The incident unfolded around 12:20 p.m. on Friday, June 21, when emergency services were called to a multi-vehicle crash.

The collision involved three distinct vehicles, but one driver chose to escape responsibility, leaving behind a chaotic scene and a driver suffering minor injuries.

Investigators from the GSPS Traffic Management Unit have identified the vehicle that fled as a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck, believed to be a model from between 2014 and 2018.

This truck was involved in the initial impact alongside a white Ford Escape and a dark grey or black Dodge Ram pickup truck. Following the crash, the driver of the silver GMC Sierra reportedly made no attempt to remain at the scene or offer assistance, instead driving away before police arrived.

While one driver involved in the collision sustained minor injuries, the priority for law enforcement remains locating the individual responsible for the hit-and-run.

Fleeing the scene of a collision, especially one involving injuries, carries serious legal consequences.
