Unveiling Preparedness: Railways Conduct Massive Mock Drill for Ultimate Passenger Safety Readiness

The scenario was chillingly realistic: four railway coaches lay 'derailed', encompassing 200 'passengers' – volunteers who bravely stepped into roles ranging from the uninjured to the critically wounded.

The carefully crafted disaster envisioned 50 injured individuals and 10 tragic fatalities, creating an environment that demanded immediate, precise, and collaborative action from all participating units.

Leading the charge was the formidable Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) and Southern Railway, but they were far from alone.

A veritable army of first responders and support organizations converged, including the elite National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the steadfast District Administration, the life-saving District Health and Family Welfare Department, and the vigilant Fire and Emergency Services. Crucially, the exercise also saw the involvement of various civil society groups – Civil Defence volunteers, Bharat Scouts and Guides, the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and dedicated students from St Aloysius College – underscoring the vital role of community engagement in large-scale emergencies.
