Tuscaloosa County Schools Usher in New Era with Three Dynamic Principal Appointments

As we gear up for what promises to be another impactful academic year, the system has just announced some significant leadership changes, bringing fresh faces and proven talent to three of its key campuses. It’s always fascinating to see how new leadership can truly shape the spirit and direction of a school community, isn't it?

Superintendent Dr. Keri Johnson, whose vision for the district is truly palpable, shared her enthusiasm about these new appointments. She emphasized how thrilled she is to welcome such an incredible trio, each bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the students, staff, and wider communities they’ll now serve. Let's talk about Hillcrest High School first, shall we? Stepping into the principal’s office there is none other than Dr. David Gibson. Now, Dr. Gibson is no stranger to the area or to the complexities of high school administration. He’s been serving as an Assistant Principal over at Brookwood High, but his journey actually includes a stint as principal at Greensboro High and even an earlier run as an Assistant Principal right there at Hillcrest. Talk about coming full circle! His roots in teaching run deep too, having taught at both Hillcrest and Echols Middle. Academically, he’s quite accomplished, holding degrees from the University of West Alabama, the University of Alabama, and Samford University. That's a pretty robust background, if you ask me.

Next up, we have Holt High School, which will be welcoming Dr. Lisa Ingram as its new principal. Dr. Ingram joins Holt from Northridge High, where she served as an Assistant Principal, and she brings with her an absolutely extensive resume. Imagine, she's been a principal at Aliceville Elementary, an Assistant Principal at Hale County High, and has taught across various districts. Her educational journey is equally impressive, with degrees from the University of West Alabama, the University of Alabama, and Walden University. It's clear she has a broad understanding of the educational landscape, from elementary right up through high school, which is invaluable.

And let’s not forget our younger learners! Brookwood Elementary School is thrilled to announce Mrs. Julie Duncan as its new principal. Mrs. Duncan is a true homegrown talent, having dedicated her entire career to the Tuscaloosa County School System. She's been an Assistant Principal at Vance Elementary, and before that, she taught at Cottondale Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary, and Vance Elementary. It's lovely to see someone rise through the ranks, bringing that intimate knowledge of the district and its families to a leadership role. She's got her degrees from the University of Alabama and the University of West Alabama, a testament to her ongoing commitment to her craft.

These appointments really do mark a significant moment for TCSS. With Dr. Gibson, Dr. Ingram, and Mrs. Duncan at the helm of Hillcrest High, Holt High, and Brookwood Elementary respectively, the future looks incredibly bright.
