Tragic Dumper Crash Claims Three Lives in Delhi's Sarita Vihar

In the early hours of Sunday, around 3:20 a.m., a gritty, medium‑sized dumper barreled into a crane and an auto‑rickshaw parked on Road No. 13 in Sarita Vihar, Delhi. The rickshaw was packed with workers from the city’s Safe City Project, and the sudden impact turned the quiet pre‑dawn into a scene of chaos.

Three young men lost their lives in the crash. Umesh, 23, and Praveen, 35 – both hailing from Sangam Vihar – were among the dead, along with Suraj, a 34‑year‑old HR manager whose family and employer are still seeking details. Their names have been confirmed by the police, but the grief of their loved ones lingers far beyond the headlines.

The accident also left three other workers hurt. Akash, 20, and Anup, 26, both residents of Sangam Vihar, suffered injuries that required medical attention, as did Khem Singh, 40, from Rohini. Fortunately, another worker, Sudhir, escaped without any physical harm.

According to the investigation brief, the dumper was making its way from Noida when it struck the stationary crane and the rickshaw, which were positioned for CCTV installation work under the Safe City Project. The driver fled the scene almost immediately, and police have yet to locate him.

Authorities from Sarita Vihar Police Station are now digging deeper into what caused the dumper to lose control and why the driver vanished. The probe is ongoing, and more details are expected as officials piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
