Tragic Death in Mayur Vihar Phase 3: Man Brutally Beaten with Sticks

In the stillness of an early Sunday morning, just before the city truly wakes, a grim scene unfolded in Mayur Vihar Phase 3, East Delhi. Around 4:30 a.m., a man—estimated to be in his early‑forties—was found lying motionless, his body bearing the brutal marks of a beating with sticks and rods.

The tragedy first came to light when a police patrol, responding to a frantic call, arrived at the spot. The victim was already gravely injured; despite attempts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene. Even now, officials have not been able to confirm his name or any family details.

According to Nandlal, a security guard stationed at a nearby housing complex, the assault was not a random act of violence. He says he saw two men wielding long sticks and a knife, striking the victim repeatedly. “I tried to step in,” Nandlal recounts, “but they warned me to back off. One of them even lunged at me, so I had to run away.”

Police from the New Ashok Nagar police station have since cordoned off the area. They are poring over CCTV footage captured by several cameras that happen to face the lane where the attack took place. The grainy video, which is being examined frame by frame, shows two dark‑clad figures approaching the victim, brandishing the sticks, and delivering a savage assault.

Detectives are hoping the footage will reveal enough detail—like the attackers’ gait, clothing or any distinguishing marks—to track them down. At the same time, they are working to piece together the victim’s identity, interviewing neighbours, local shop owners and anyone who might have known the man.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, officials have appealed to the public for any information that could help solve the case. “If anyone saw anything, no matter how small it seems, we urge you to come forward,” a police spokesperson said.

The incident has sent a chill through the community, sparking concerns about safety in the neighbourhood, especially during the early hours when streets are quieter. Residents are calling for better lighting, more patrolling, and stricter security measures.

As the police continue their inquiries, the hope is that the CCTV images and the testimony of the brave guard will lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible, bringing some measure of justice for the victim and his family.
