Tragic Bus Collision Claims Life of 58‑Year‑Old Man in Flatbush

On Saturday evening, just after 8:15 p.m., a B44 bus was making its routine southbound run down Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, pulling into the stop at Clarendon Road. The driver, a 43‑year‑old woman, halted the vehicle for roughly half a minute before continuing on her route.

During that brief pause, a man who looked disoriented—some witnesses thought he might have been intoxicated—stepped off the sidewalk and made his way toward the bus. By the time he reached it, the rear door had already been closed.

According to a source familiar with the investigation, the man came into contact with the bus and was struck by its rear wheels. Surveillance footage shows him approaching the stop, but it’s still unclear whether he was clipped by a moving part of the bus or simply fell and was then run over.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Kings County Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
