Tragedy Strikes Windsor: One Fatality in Devastating Cabana Road West Collision

A truly heartbreaking scene unfolded Monday afternoon in Windsor, as a severe multi-vehicle collision on Cabana Road West tragically resulted in one fatality. Emergency services and Windsor police converged on the intersection of Cabana Road West and Rankin Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. on September 28, 2026, responding to what would become a grim incident.

Sadly, the driver of a sedan involved in the crash, a man, succumbed to his injuries. The loss of life casts a heavy shadow over the community and, of course, for the man's loved ones. Our thoughts are certainly with them during this incredibly difficult time.

While the sedan suffered significant front-end damage, another vehicle involved in the accident was found overturned onto its side – a stark visual testament to the sheer force of the impact. Thankfully, the occupants of this second vehicle were reported to have sustained only minor injuries, a small measure of relief amidst such profound tragedy.

As you can imagine, an incident of this magnitude necessitated immediate and extensive action. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Cabana Road West, between Rankin Avenue and Charlevoix Avenue, were promptly closed to traffic. This allowed police investigators to meticulously process the scene and emergency crews to manage the aftermath safely. The roads have since reopened, but the memory of the event undoubtedly lingers.

Windsor police are, of course, actively investigating the full circumstances surrounding this fatal collision. While details are still emerging, the incident serves as a stark and painful reminder of the unpredictable nature of our roads and the vital importance of safe driving practices.
