Christopher Lally, a 38-year-old resident of Smithtown, was behind the wheel of his 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, reportedly heading northbound on Rosevale Avenue. At the very same moment, a 2004 Nissan Titan, driven by Yuris Garcia, 44, of Brentwood, was traveling eastbound along Portion Road. The next thing anyone knew, these two vehicles converged at the intersection, a moment of impact that, unfortunately, was severe.

The immediate aftermath saw Lally transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries described as serious.
