Tragedy Strikes Jharkhand: CRPF Jawan Martyred in Brutal Naxal IED Attack

In a somber turn of events, the nation mourns the loss of a brave Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jagannath Ray, 53, who was tragically killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast orchestrated by Naxalites in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. The incident, which occurred on a recent Sunday morning, underscores the persistent threat faced by security forces operating in insurgency-affected regions.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ray, a dedicated member of the CRPF’s 60th Battalion, was part of a joint anti-Naxal operation in the dense forests near Touba village, under the Goilkera police station area.

The forces were meticulously combing the notorious 'Kolhan' forest region, known as a hotbed for Naxal activity, when the insurgents ambushed them by triggering a powerful IED. The blast, a cowardly act by the Naxalites, inflicted critical injuries upon ASI Ray.

Following the blast, prompt action was taken to airlift the severely injured jawan from the remote operational area to the capital city of Ranchi.

Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, ASI Jagannath Ray, a resident of Odisha's Ganjam district, tragically succumbed to his grievous injuries. His sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the immense dangers faced by our security personnel daily as they strive to maintain peace and order.

The West Singhbhum district has been a focal point for intense anti-Naxal operations, with security forces relentlessly pursuing top Naxal commanders and their cadres.
