Tragedy Strikes in Gurugram: Young Man's Life Cut Short by Hit-and-Run Driver

It’s a story we hear far too often, a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless driving and, frankly, the callous disregard some drivers show for human life. A young man, just 25 years old and working hard to make a living, has had his life tragically snatched away in Gurugram following a horrific hit-and-run incident.

Neeraj Kumar, a dedicated delivery agent, was simply riding his scooter late on Monday night, May 6th, when his world, and the world of his family, was shattered. Around 10:30 PM, near the bustling Atlas Chowk, a speeding, unidentified car collided with his Activa scooter from behind. The impact, it seems, was severe, leaving Neeraj critically injured on the service lane.

What truly adds a layer of heartbreak to this already tragic event is that the driver of the offending vehicle didn't stop. They simply sped away, leaving Neeraj there. Thankfully, some passersby, witnessing the aftermath of the crash, rushed to his aid. They quickly transported him to Medanta Hospital, but despite their best efforts, the doctors, unfortunately, declared him dead upon arrival. It's just a truly devastating outcome.

Neeraj, originally from Bihar, had made his home in Dhankot village, Gurugram, working tirelessly as a delivery agent. His brother, Prem Kumar, grappling with this unimaginable loss, has filed an official complaint with the local authorities. The police have, as expected, registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. They’re now diligently working, reviewing all available CCTV footage from the area, hoping to identify the vehicle and, crucially, the person behind the wheel who chose to flee the scene.

This incident, like so many others, serves as a painful reminder of the importance of road safety and the desperate need for accountability. A young life, full of potential, extinguished in a moment of reckless abandon, leaving a family to mourn and a community to wonder when these senseless tragedies will finally cease.
