Tragedy Strikes Delhi: Birthday Gift Dispute Escalates to Double Homicide

A serene family celebration tragically devolved into a horrific double murder in Delhi, sending shockwaves through the quiet locality of Mohan Garden. The incident, which unfolded late last week, saw a seemingly minor dispute over birthday gifts escalate into an act of unimaginable violence, claiming the lives of a woman and her mother.

Police sources have identified the accused as Deepak, a 30-year-old resident, who has been arrested in connection with the brutal killings of his 28-year-old wife, Rekha, and her 55-year-old mother, Sunita Devi.

The shocking incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, February 13th, leaving neighbours stunned and grieving.

According to preliminary investigations, the evening began with celebrations for Rekha's birthday. However, what was meant to be a joyous occasion soon turned sour when an argument erupted between Deepak, Rekha, and Sunita Devi.

The core of the dispute, as reported by authorities, revolved around the selection and exchange of birthday gifts – a seemingly trivial matter that tragically took a fatal turn.

Eyewitnesses, who reportedly heard heated exchanges from the family's residence, stated that the argument intensified rapidly.

In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Deepak allegedly armed himself with a knife and launched a frenzied assault. Both Rekha and her mother, Sunita Devi, sustained multiple stab wounds during the horrific attack, succumbing to their injuries at the scene.

Disturbed by the sudden silence that followed the shouts, neighbours alerted the local police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the gruesome scene and immediately initiated an investigation. Deepak was apprehended shortly after the incident, reportedly still at the residence, in a state of agitation. The weapon used in the commission of the crime has been recovered by the police.

A senior police official commented on the incident, stating, "This is a deeply disturbing case of domestic violence.

We are investigating all angles and gathering evidence. The accused has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway. The community is understandably shocked by this tragic loss of life over what appears to be a petty dispute."

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic teams have collected crucial evidence from the crime scene.
