Tragedy in Odisha: Police Sub-Inspector Lynched by Mob

According to reports coming in, Sahu wasn't just out and about; he was actually on duty, part of a dedicated team investigating a rather serious motorcycle theft case. They'd travelled to Sindhigaon village in the Sanakhemundi area, you see, following a lead. Now, here's where things went terribly, terribly wrong: it appears the villagers, for whatever reason, mistook the plainclothes officers for thieves themselves, or perhaps even child-lifters – a tragically common and often unfounded misconception that so often fuels such violent outbursts.

He's appealed to the public, quite rightly, to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and, instead, to cooperate fully with the police in all investigations.
