Titans Split Slate in Morris Tournament Ahead of Playoffs

Saturday’s sunshine in Morris turned out to be a lucky charm for the Bemidji American Legion softball squad, the Titans, who managed to even out their record at .500 after a mixed weekend of triumphs and setbacks.

The weekend got off to a rough start on Friday when the host team, Morris, blanked the Titans 3‑0. Bemidji’s bats went quiet, managing just three hits, but the pitching staff, led by McKenzie Bullock, showed promise. Bullock logged five innings, surrendered five hits, two earned runs and struck out four.

Come Saturday, the tide turned. Bemidji took advantage of Northern Ice’s miscues, scoring two runs on consecutive passed balls in the second inning. Jessa Anderson and Bullock added RBI singles, and the Titans walked away with a 4‑1 victory.

The next game was a nail‑biter against Border West. After a three‑run fifth inning gave Border West a 5‑3 lead, the Titans answered back with their own three‑run rally in the same frame, flipping the score to 6‑5. Olivia Birt and Anderson each contributed two RBIs, sealing the win.

Sunday, however, proved to be a humbling day. Six errors by Post 14 haunted Bemidji as Minnesota Breeze erupted for an 11‑5 win. Despite the loss, Ridley Hadrava shone at the plate, going 3‑for‑3 with an RBI.

Overall, the Titans displayed resilience: Bullock’s arms kept them in games, Anderson’s clutch hitting sparked runs, and the team’s chemistry seemed to solidify just in time for the playoffs. The next chapter awaits, and Bemidji will be hoping the momentum from those two wins carries them deeper into postseason action.
