Three Suspects Arrested After Intense Police Car and Foot Chase in Montreal

At around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers from the Sûreté du Québec spotted a dark‑colored sedan speeding down Rue Saint‑Laurent, just north of the downtown core. The driver ignored an initial request to pull over, prompting a squad car to give chase.

What started as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a high‑speed pursuit that weaved through several side streets. The driver, evidently nervous, made a sudden left turn onto Rue de la Montagne, where the police vehicle was forced to brake sharply to avoid a collision.

With the suspect’s vehicle now stalled, three officers leapt out and began a foot chase. The driver tried to flee on foot, but the officers, trained for exactly this kind of scenario, closed the distance within minutes. Two passengers also attempted to escape, adding to the chaos.

After a brief but intense scramble, all three individuals were apprehended near a small park, handcuffed, and read their rights. Paramedics checked them for injuries – none were reported – and they were then taken to the Saint‑Laurent police station for questioning.

Detectives say the suspects are linked to a series of recent thefts in the Plateau‑Mont‑Royal area. Their identities have not been released pending further investigation.
