Three More Indian Nationals Rescued from Flood‑Stricken Nepal

New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday that three more Indian nationals have been pulled to safety from the flood‑ravaged Trishuli Bazaar in Nepal. Among them is a five‑year‑old child, making the rescue a particularly emotional one.

According to the MEA’s update on X, the tally of Indians rescued so far stands at 169. The rescued family members are named as Abhijit Suresh Pawar, his wife Dipika, and their little son Samarth, who is just five years old. The embassy in Nepal is now arranging for their return to India by air.

India has been sending help in an almost nonstop stream since the flash floods battered the Himalayan nation last week. So far, about 95 tonnes of relief material have been flown in on seven aircraft. Alongside the supplies, a contingent of 54 Indian personnel – 30 tunnel‑rescue specialists, 19 forensic experts and a five‑member medical team – are on the ground, working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with Nepali authorities.

During a bi‑weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the assistance would keep flowing, matching whatever the Nepali government asks for. “In the coming days we plan to send more forensic kits, Bailey bridges and other equipment that Nepal needs,” he told reporters.

He also shared a stark figure: about 275 Indian nationals remain unaccounted for. On a brighter note, 1,907 Indians have already crossed safely into Nepal from China, and, according to Chinese officials, no Indian travelers are stranded in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The floods have left a trail of devastation, but the joint rescue effort shows how quickly neighbours can rally when disaster strikes. The MEA affirmed that India will continue to stand by Nepal, providing both material aid and expertise until the worst of the crisis passes.
