The Story of Studio Ghibli Comes to Singapore

Singapore is getting its very own slice of animated wonder. Starting 18 December 2026, Gardens by the Bay will host the world‑premiere of The Story of Studio Ghibli, an immersive walk‑through exhibition that brings twelve iconic film worlds to life.

Spanning nearly 3,500 square metres, the show is the largest Ghibli‑themed presentation ever built. Imagine stepping into the misty forest of Princess Mononoke, waiting beside Totoro for the Catbus to roar by, or wandering the mysterious streets of Spirited Away—all under one roof. The highlight? An eight‑metre‑tall three‑dimensional recreation of the iconic bathhouse, a first of its kind.

Created by TSUKURU, INC. and M Experience, with the backing of the Singapore Tourism Board, the exhibition isn’t just a photo‑op. Interactive multimedia installations place you right in the centre of each story, letting you feel the same curiosity, bravery and hope that have made Studio Ghibli a global household name since its founding in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki.

“The Story of Studio Ghibli is not simply an exhibition to be viewed. It is an experience to be felt,” says Sean Lim, CEO of M Experience. “Through twelve recreated scenes we invite visitors to step into the stories themselves and connect with the emotions, values and imagination that continue to resonate across cultures and generations.”

Tickets are already on sale via Klook, the official ticketing partner. Early‑bird buyers (12 September–17 December 2026) will receive a limited‑edition gift, while supplies last. Prices start at S$39 for Singapore citizens and permanent residents, with concession rates for seniors and children.

Beyond the visual spectacle, the exhibition will also spark conversations about creativity, resilience and environmental stewardship—core themes that run through Ghibli’s catalogue. Educational programmes and workshops are in the works, promising deeper engagement for school groups and families alike.

Gardens by the Bay’s West Lawn will host the exhibit until 4 July 2027, open daily from 10 am to 7 pm.
