Thane Horror: Live‑in Partner Murder, Body Dismembered and Dumped, Fugitive Flees to Kolkata

It began like any ordinary weekday in the Kalyan‑East neighbourhood of Thane – a landlord hearing a strange voice note on his phone and trying to make sense of it. The message, sent by a woman named Hasiba, claimed she had killed her live‑in partner and begged the landlord to arrange last rites. The landlord, rattled, called the police.

When officers from the Manpada police station cracked open the door of the flat in Neelkanth Society on Malang Road, they were met with a stench that had been bothering residents for days. Some neighbours thought it was just garbage or a clogged drain. No one imagined a corpse was hidden behind the bathroom tiles.

Inside the modest rented apartment, detectives found a gunny sack stuffed with dismembered parts of a 37‑year‑old man identified as Hamidulla Islam. The body had apparently been chopped up, placed in the bag and left under a continuously running tap – a grim attempt, police suspect, to speed up decomposition and wash away forensic clues.

According to the investigation, Hasiba and Hamidulla, both originally from West Bengal, had been sharing the flat for roughly one and a half to two months. On the night of the alleged murder, Hamidulla was attacked with a sharp‑edged weapon. The exact details of the struggle remain under probe, but the police say the victim was dismembered shortly after the assault.

In the voice note, Hasiba alleged that Hamidulla had brought her from Pune to Kalyan with a sinister plan to sell her into a prostitution ring and eventually kill her. She claimed she acted in self‑defence, striking back and ending his life. The police are currently verifying those statements.

After the gruesome act, Hasiba allegedly fled the city, crossing state lines to Kolkata. There, she sent the voice recording to the landlord, perhaps hoping to shift blame or simply to clear her conscience. A team has been dispatched to Kolkata to locate and arrest her.

The dismembered remains have been sent for a post‑mortem, while forensic experts are combing through the flat for DNA, fingerprints and any other evidence that could piece together the timeline. The case has now been registered as murder, and investigators are treating it as a pre‑meditated crime.

Neighbors, still shaken, recall the odd noises and the foul smell that lingered for days. "We thought it was just rubbish or a drainage problem," said one resident who asked to remain unnamed. "We never imagined a body was hidden inside the apartment."
