Terrifying Night in Cambridge: Youth Abducted During Violent Vehicle Robbery

A night of terror unfolded in Cambridge as a youth was abducted during a violent vehicle robbery in the early hours of Friday. Waterloo Regional Police Service has launched an intensive investigation into the harrowing incident, which saw a parked vehicle stolen and its young passenger unwittingly taken along.

The alarming event transpired around 1:45 a.m.

near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and King Street East. According to authorities, two male suspects approached a vehicle that was parked in the area. What followed was a swift and brutal assault on the driver, after which the perpetrators forcibly took control of the vehicle.

Unbeknownst to the suspects at the time of the carjacking, a youth was sitting in the passenger seat.

It was only some distance away, as the vehicle was being driven, that the suspects discovered the young occupant. They subsequently released the youth from the vehicle.

Thankfully, the terrified youth was later found walking alone on a street in Cambridge, approximately an hour after the initial robbery.

Despite the profound shock and trauma of the ordeal, the youth was physically unharmed and has since been reunited with their family.

The stolen vehicle, identified as a blue 2017 Honda Civic sedan, was also successfully recovered by police in the vicinity of Blair Road and Coronation Boulevard.

However, the search for the two male suspects continues, with police appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their apprehension.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dash camera footage from the area at the time, or possesses any relevant information, to come forward.

Waterloo Regional Police Service emphasizes that this was an isolated and targeted incident, assuring the community that there is no ongoing risk to general public safety. Charges are pending as the investigation progresses, aiming to bring those responsible for this traumatic event to justice.
