Taylor Swift Silences Trump’s TikTok Hijack—Again

It seems the White House’s TikTok account can’t resist a little pop‑culture bait. Earlier this week the account posted a montage of Donald Trump smiling, pointing and, of course, set to Swift’s "I Bet You Think About Me." The caption read, “We know you think about us 🤭,” a thinly veiled nod to the song’s chorus.

Within hours, the audio vanished. The video remains live, but now it’s just a mute‑filled loop of the former president’s grin. It’s the second time this month that Trump’s team has tried to ride the wave of a Swift track, only to be politely shushed.

The first incident happened on August 3, when the @teamtrump TikTok posted a balcony‑view of fireworks set to Swift’s "August." The post even tagged the singer and added the tongue‑in‑cheek line, “I’m sure @TaylorSwift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” Fans flooded the comments demanding the track be taken down, and by Sunday the video’s music had been replaced with a generic country‑style ditty glorifying Trump.

Swift herself hasn’t publicly commented on either clip, but the removal of the audio suggests her team is not happy to have her catalog repurposed for political theatrics. The Hill notes that even a much older TikTok from last November that featured her song "Father Figure" was later muted.

The spat is hardly new. In the 2020 election, Swift blasted Trump on X (formerly Twitter), accusing him of “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism.” Fast forward to 2024, she endorsed Kamala Harris, prompting Trump to post an angry “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” message on Truth Social. Months later, after his election win, he doubled‑down with a snarky jab about Swift’s supposed loss of “hotness.”

Curiously, the tension took a brief pause last August when Trump, now 80, wished Swift and her fiancé Travis Kelce good luck. “He’s a great player and she’s a terrific person,” he said, an oddly courteous note amid the usual snark.

So far, Swift’s silence has spoken louder than words. By stripping the songs from the White House’s TikTok posts, she’s reminded the former president that you can’t just commandeer pop music without consequences. Whether the feud cools off or heats up again, one thing’s clear: the intersection of politics and pop culture can still produce some cringeworthy moments.
