Swami Chaitanyananda's Trail of Deception: Arrest in Agra After Two-Month Hunt Across 13 Hotels

A two-month-long cat-and-mouse chase across three states concluded dramatically in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, as Delhi Police finally apprehended self-proclaimed godman Swami Chaitanyananda, whose real name is Rajesh Ranjan. The spiritual leader, known for his ashram in South Delhi's Greater Kailash-I, was on the run after being accused of harassment, theft, and criminal intimidation by a woman from Chandigarh.

His elaborate evasion tactics saw him hop between no fewer than 13 hotels, attempting to outwit investigators at every turn.

The saga began when a woman approached the police with a grave complaint. She alleged that Swami Chaitanyananda, whom she had met at his ashram, had subjected her to harassment, along with stealing cash and other valuable belongings.

The accusations were serious, prompting the South Delhi Police to immediately register a First Information Report (FIR) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 379 (theft), and 406 (criminal breach of trust).

As the investigation intensified, it became clear that Swami Chaitanyananda had vanished.

He had not only left his Greater Kailash-I ashram but also seemingly disappeared without a trace. This initiated a painstaking manhunt by a dedicated team from the Special Staff of South Delhi Police, assisted by the Cyber Cell. Investigators meticulously scoured call data records (CDRs) and reviewed countless hours of CCTV footage from various locations.

These efforts painted a picture of a man desperate to avoid capture, constantly moving to obscure his whereabouts.

The police revealed that the fugitive godman had stayed in a staggering 13 hotels across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh over the two-month period. Each new location was a fresh attempt to shake off his pursuers, as he meticulously checked into one establishment after another, often using different identities or employing tactics to minimize his digital footprint.

However, the persistence of the police ultimately paid off. Through persistent tracking and intelligence gathering, the investigation team managed to narrow down his potential locations.

The breakthrough came when officers received a crucial tip-off indicating his presence in Agra. A swift and coordinated operation was launched.

The police team converged on the suspected location, leading to a tense chase. Swami Chaitanyananda was finally cornered and taken into custody in the city of Agra. His arrest marks the culmination of a diligent and challenging investigation, bringing an end to his flight from justice.

Following his apprehension, Swami Chaitanyananda was brought back to Delhi.

He is now undergoing further questioning as the police gather more evidence related to the allegations.
