Suspicious Suitcase Triggers Temporary Road Closure in Libertyville

On Monday morning, around 11:30 a.m., a passerby spotted a lone carry‑on suitcase sitting idle by the pumps at a gas station on the 1200 block of Illinois Route 176. The odd sight set off a quick call to Libertyville police.

Officers swooped in within minutes, cordoned off the area and, as a precaution, shut down the bustling junction of Route 176 and Butterfield Road. Traffic snarled for a short while while detectives, backed by neighboring agencies, examined the mysterious bag.
