Surrey RCMP Delivers Decisive Blow to Drug Trade: Massive Fentanyl, Firearms Seizure and Four Arrests

Surrey, BC – In a powerful display of relentless law enforcement, the Surrey RCMP has announced a significant victory against the illicit drug trade, dismantling a major trafficking operation that spanned across the city. This pivotal bust, which culminated in the arrests of four individuals and the seizure of a staggering quantity of dangerous narcotics, multiple firearms, and substantial cash, marks a crucial step in safeguarding community well-being.

The meticulous investigation, spearheaded by the Surrey RCMP Drug Section, began in May 2024.

Over several weeks, officers diligently gathered intelligence, meticulously tracking the activities of a suspected drug trafficking network. Their perseverance paid off with a coordinated two-day enforcement action on June 5 and June 6, leading directly to the arrests.

The arrests unfolded across key locations, with individuals apprehended at a residence in Fraser Heights and in the bustling area of Surrey Central Station.

Following the arrests, search warrants were executed, revealing the true scale of the operation’s illicit inventory.

Among the harrowing discoveries were approximately 12 kilograms of suspected fentanyl – a deadly opioid known for its potent and often fatal effects – alongside 3 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine, and 1 kilogram of suspected MDMA.

Beyond the narcotics, police also confiscated multiple firearms, underscoring the violent nature often associated with drug trafficking, and an astonishing amount of over $200,000 in Canadian currency, believed to be proceeds of crime.

While charges against the four arrested individuals are currently being recommended, they have since been released from custody and are awaiting their next court date.

The RCMP continues to work closely with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada to ensure a robust legal process.

Staff Sergeant Dave Wise, who oversees the Surrey RCMP Drug Section, emphasized the broader impact of this operation. “Taking a substantial amount of illicit drugs, especially fentanyl, off the streets directly translates into saving lives and reducing harm in our community,” he stated.

“This significant seizure, along with the firearms and cash, sends a clear message that drug trafficking and its associated dangers will not be tolerated in Surrey.”

This bust serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by organized crime and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat it.
