Among the dazzling haul are 51 gold coins, several silver coins, and a remarkable 40-foot-long ornate gold chain.

However, the crown jewel of this particular find is undeniably a Royal eight-escudo coin, a masterpiece minted specifically for King Philip V of Spain. This rare coin alone is estimated to be worth approximately $500,000, making it one of only a handful known to exist in the world. On July 31, 1715, eleven heavily laden Spanish galleons, en route from Havana to Spain, were caught in the wrath of a ferocious hurricane just off the Florida coast. The ships, brimming with gold, silver, and other riches intended to replenish the Spanish treasury, were smashed against the reefs and sank, scattering their precious cargo across the ocean floor.

While millions in treasure have been recovered from these wrecks over the centuries, experts believe that a substantial amount still lies hidden beneath the sands and waves.

Brisben’s company has been actively salvaging these historical sites, contributing significantly to our understanding of this pivotal moment in maritime history.
