And what's particularly worrying is that at least 14 people are still unaccounted for, their families left in an agonizing limbo.

You can imagine the scene: homes swallowed by mud, entire communities submerged under rapidly rising water. The country's Disaster Management Centre has been working tirelessly, reporting that this recent bout of extreme weather has impacted several districts, with Ratnapura, Galle, and Matara bearing some of the heaviest brunt.
