The catalyst for this monumental undertaking is an incredibly generous donation of approximately 2.5 acres of land from local philanthropists Joe and Joan Rumbaugh.

Their foresight and commitment to the community have provided the perfect foundation for what promises to be a transformative project, located strategically near the intersection of Highway 105 and Baptist Road.

Randy Anderson, CEO of Silver Key Senior Services, articulated the profound need for this new facility.

"Demand for senior services in the northern part of the county is growing exponentially, and currently, there isn't a dedicated space to provide the comprehensive support our seniors deserve," he explained. "This new center will be a beacon of care, offering everything from nutritious meals to engaging social activities, all designed to foster independence and well-being."

The planned community center is envisioned as a vibrant hub, equipped to provide a wide array of Silver Key's renowned programs.

These will include crucial Meals on Wheels distribution, a much-needed adult day program to offer respite for caregivers, robust support services for seniors and their families, and a dynamic schedule of activities promoting physical, mental, and social engagement. The goal is to bring these essential services closer to the homes of seniors in Monument, Palmer Lake, Woodmoor, and surrounding northern communities.

The Rumbaughs, whose family has deep roots in the area, expressed their heartfelt motivation for the donation.

"We wanted to give back to a community that has given us so much," Joe Rumbaugh shared. "Seeing Silver Key's dedication, we knew this land could become something truly special, a place where our seniors can thrive and find connection." To bring this vital project to fruition, Silver Key has embarked on an ambitious fundraising campaign, aiming to secure $10 million over the next five years.
