Sacramento Light Rail Grapples with Costly Vandalism Chaos, Thousands Impacted

Sacramento’s vital light rail system has been thrown into disarray following extensive vandalism over the weekend of May 18-19, leading to significant service disruptions and a hefty repair bill. The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is grappling with the aftermath of deliberate damage to its critical overhead electrical lines, known as the catenary system, which powers the entire network.
