Sacramento Firefighter Injured After Power Lines Fall on Grand Avenue Blaze

It was a typical late‑afternoon rush on Grand Avenue in Sacramento – the kind of busy stretch between I‑80 and South Avenue that sees a steady flow of cars, cyclists, and the occasional delivery truck. At around 2:15 p.m. on July 20, 2026, that rhythm was shattered by the wail of fire engines racing to a structure fire in the 1900 block.

When the first crews arrived, flames were already licking the side of the building. Firefighters moved in, hoses ready, when a sudden crack rang out overhead. The Grand Avenue fire was just one of several incidents that day.
