Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized and Released After Startling ShopRite Incident

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been discharged from the hospital after a surprising encounter at a Staten Island ShopRite, an incident his son, Andrew Giuliani, confirmed as "potentially very serious." The 78-year-old former attorney for Donald Trump was admitted on Sunday following an alleged physical interaction with a campaign worker.

The incident unfolded around 3:24 p.m.

inside the supermarket, where Giuliani was campaigning for his son, who is currently running for governor of New York. Authorities identified the worker as Daniel Gill, a ShopRite employee, who allegedly "slapped" Giuliani on the back. Describing the impact, Giuliani later recounted feeling like "somebody shot me," indicating the force of the blow.

While Giuliani initially waved off medical attention, his son strongly urged him to seek care due to persistent pain in his head and shoulder, leading to his hospital visit.

Andrew Giuliani emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting that such actions against public figures are unacceptable.

Following the altercation, Daniel Gill was swiftly arrested and charged with assault. However, Gill offered a different account of the events, claiming he merely "patted" Giuliani on the back while uttering, "'what's up, scumbag?'" ShopRite confirmed that Gill has since been suspended from his position.

Despite the unsettling experience, Giuliani's communications director assured the public that the former mayor was "shaken, but he's a tough guy," reinforcing his resilience in the face of the unexpected incident.
