Remembering a Life Well-Lived: Edward Michael Rauza

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Michael Rauza, a beloved patriarch, dedicated community member, and proud U.S. Navy veteran, who departed peacefully on May 25, 2024, at the age of 79. A beacon of strength and unwavering love, Edward leaves behind a profound legacy that will forever resonate with his family and friends.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on December 22, 1944, to the late Michael and Adele Rauza, Edward’s life was marked by service and commitment from an early age.

He honorably served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, a period that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline he carried throughout his life.

For 55 cherished years, Edward was the devoted husband of Darlene Rauza. Together, they built a beautiful life in Wethersfield, where they resided for five decades.

Edward was a true embodiment of the American work ethic, balancing a demanding 35-year career at Pratt & Whitney with his own successful venture, Rauza Landscaping, which he owned and operated with diligence for 50 years. His tireless dedication was a testament to his desire to provide the best for his family.

Edward's greatest joy, however, was his family.

He was a loving father to his children, Scott Rauza and his wife Jennifer, and Darlene Devanney and her husband Robert. He was also a doting grandfather to Madison Devanney, Dylan Rauza, Jake Rauza, and Brooke Rauza, taking immense pride in their accomplishments and cherishing every moment spent with them.

Though he faced the heartbreaking loss of his son, Edward Rauza Jr., and his brother, John Rauza, his spirit remained resilient, always focused on the love that surrounded him.

Beyond his commitments, Edward found joy in simple pleasures. A passionate fan, he rarely missed a Boston Red Sox game or a UConn Huskies basketball match, often sharing these moments with loved ones.

He and Darlene also created lasting memories through their travels, with Aruba and Florida being among their favorite destinations. These trips, filled with laughter and relaxation, were treasured opportunities to unwind and connect.

Edward Michael Rauza was more than just a hardworking man; he was a steadfast friend, a caring neighbor, and a pillar of his family.

His presence brought comfort and his unwavering support was a constant source of strength. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his enduring spirit, and the immense love he showered upon all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, a testament to a life truly well-lived and a man deeply, profoundly missed.
