Reliance Ignites Green Future: Kutch Solar Project Set for Early 2026 Power Debut

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is charging ahead with its ambitious green energy plans, announcing that solar power generation from its pioneering Kutch project is slated to commence by the first half of fiscal year 2027 (April-September 2026). This significant milestone is a crucial step in the company's grand vision to establish 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy capacity by 2030.

The Kutch solar project is an integral component of Reliance's monumental Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

This sprawling complex is designed to be a global hub for green energy manufacturing, featuring four state-of-the-art giga-factories.

These four giga-factories represent the future of clean energy. The first will focus on integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, crucial for capturing the sun's abundant energy.

The second will be dedicated to advanced energy storage, developing cutting-edge battery solutions to store renewable power efficiently. The third giga-factory will produce electrolysers, vital for generating green hydrogen, a clean fuel of the future. Finally, the fourth will specialize in fuel cells, converting green hydrogen into electricity with zero emissions.

Reliance has earmarked an colossal investment of Rs 60,000 crore for these four giga-factories alone, further committing Rs 15,000 crore towards value chain integration, strategic partnerships, and exploring future technologies.

This combined investment of Rs 75,000 crore underscores Reliance's unwavering commitment to transforming India's energy landscape.

The company's subsidiary, Reliance New Energy Solar Limited (RNESL), is at the forefront of this green revolution. RNESL is actively working on land acquisition in Kutch and making substantial progress on the essential infrastructure required for such a large-scale undertaking.

Discussions are also underway with leading global module manufacturers to bring the best technology and expertise to India.

This initiative by Reliance is not just about expanding its own portfolio; it's about positioning India as a global powerhouse in green energy manufacturing. By developing a fully integrated, end-to-end renewable energy ecosystem, Reliance aims to drive down the cost of green energy, making it accessible and affordable for all, and accelerating the nation's transition towards a sustainable, carbon-neutral future.
