Registered Las Vegas Sex Offender Arrested Again, Facing New Child Abuse Charges

It's always a distressing piece of news to report, especially when it involves the most vulnerable among us. Las Vegas is once again grappling with the disturbing reality that a registered sex offender, David William Hatcher, has found himself back in police custody, now accused of committing unthinkable acts against a child. Authorities took the 44-year-old Hatcher into custody this past Monday, and he's currently booked at the Clark County Detention Center. He’s facing some incredibly serious accusations, specifically charges of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, along with lewdness involving a child, also under 14. What an awful set of circumstances, to say the least.

The alleged abuse, according to official reports, took place sometime between late January and early February. The incident came to light, thankfully, when the child courageously confided in a family member about what had happened. It's often through such brave disclosures that these cases even surface, allowing law enforcement to step in. Police located Hatcher and made the arrest in the vicinity of Twain Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

Sadly, this isn't Hatcher's first entanglement with the law; he's been a registered sex offender for quite some time, a status stemming from previous convictions that paint a rather grim picture. Back in 2005, he was convicted in Nye County for attempted sexual assault. Then, just a few years later in 2009, he faced another conviction in Clark County for sexually motivated coercion. He served time and was released from prison in 2018, only to now be facing these new, incredibly troubling allegations.

Currently, Hatcher remains in custody, with his bail set at a substantial $100,000. It’s clear the courts are taking these charges very seriously. He's scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 18, which will undoubtedly be a crucial step in this ongoing legal process.
