On Saturday, Gandhimathi Parasuraman – the daughter of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss – and her teenage grandson Mugundan Parasuraman paid a surprise visit to the residence of Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.

According to a message that later appeared on the Chief Minister’s WhatsApp group, the two family members sat down with Rangasamy to talk about the possibility of floating a Tamil Nadu wing of the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC). The chat, as reported, was informal but purposeful, with both sides apparently keen on testing the waters for a new political alliance.

“Soon, many PMK functionaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, along with the two, will join the AINRC,” the group post read, a line that hinted at a broader outreach plan. If the rumour‑mill is correct, the move could see a handful of PMK cadres shifting allegiance, potentially reshaping the opposition landscape in both states.
