Beyond the headlines, the city of Gujranwala saw its commercial arteries inundated after more than ten hours of rain, effectively halting daily business. Officials hinted that ongoing excavations for the new Metro‑Bus line (Eminabad to Gakhar Mandi) may have worsened the flooding in that area.

These incidents are part of a broader pattern that has already claimed lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where flash floods and cloudbursts earlier in the week left nine dead in districts such as Khyber, Mardan and Bajaur.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi confirmed that teams are still combing through affected neighborhoods, searching for any missing persons and providing first‑aid where possible. Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, avoid wading through flood‑filled streets and heed any further weather warnings.
