R.I.P. Tom Wilkinson

British acting veteran Tom Wilkinson, known for his roles in films like “The Full Monty,” “Batman Begins” and “Michael Clayton,” has died. A statement says the actor passed away suddenly at home with his wife and family, but specifics of the cause have not been revealed. The actor boasts more than 130 film and TV credits to his name since he began acting in the late 1970s, and has received two Oscar nominations and six BAFTA nominations in his time.

The list of movies is packed with titles many are familiar with. In the 1990s there was “In the Name of the Father,” “Sense and Sensibility,” “The Ghost and the Darkness,” “Wilde,” “Oscar and Lucinda,” “Rush Hour,” “The Full Monty,” “Shakespeare In Love,” “Ride with the Devil,” and “Smilla’s Sense of Snow”.

In the 2000s he did “The Patriot,” “In the Bedroom,” “Black Knight,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” “Normal,” “Stage Beauty,” “Batman Begins,” “Ripley Under Ground,” “RocknRolla,” “Valkyrie,” “44 Inch Chest,” “Duplicity,” “Recount” “The Last Kiss” and “Cassandra’s Dream”.

The 2010s included “The Ghost Writer,” “The Green Hornet,” “The Debt,” “Burke and Hare,” “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Fury,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Belle,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Selma,” “The Catcher Was a Spy,” “Snowden,” “Denial,” “The Happy Prince,” “The Titan,” “SAS: Red Notice”.

There’s plenty I missed too, and that’s just the films. His TV credits include “A Pocketful of Rye,” “The Ruth Rendell Mysteries,” “Inspector Morse,” “Counterstrike,” “Lovejoy,” “Prime Suspect,” “The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries,” “David Copperfield,” “The Gathering Storm,” “John Adams,” “The Gruffalo,” “The Kennedys,” “Watership Down” and “Belgravia”.

In the 2005 New Year Honours, Wilkinson was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to drama. Source:.
