According to their observations, this change is largely due to what they call 'Western Disturbances'. Essentially, these are weather systems that bring moisture and, crucially, cloud cover into the region. This blanket of clouds acts like a warm duvet over the city, trapping the heat closer to the surface of the earth and preventing it from radiating away into space overnight. It's a curious atmospheric phenomenon that certainly makes itself felt on the ground!

Looking ahead, it seems this unusual warmth might linger for a bit. While temperatures could dip slightly to around 11 or 12 degrees Celsius for a couple of days, they are generally expected to remain above the seasonal average. Don't put away all your warm clothes just yet, though! The IMD also suggests that around January 7th or 8th, we might see another potential dip. However, for the immediate future, it appears we're unlikely to experience another severe cold wave. It’s a bit of a fluctuating forecast, but mostly on the warmer side compared to what we just endured.

All in all, this sudden warmth is a curious development. For those who found the prolonged cold spell a bit too much, it’s certainly a welcome change, offering a chance to perhaps step out a little lighter.
