Pune Zilla Parishad President Survives Frightening Truck Collision

In a heart-stopping incident that unfolded on Monday evening in Pune's bustling Katraj area, Pune Zilla Parishad President Nirmala Pansare and her driver narrowly escaped what could have been a far more tragic outcome. Their official car was violently struck by a speeding truck that reportedly lost control, leaving both occupants shaken and injured, albeit fortunately not critically.

The collision, which occurred while Pansare was returning from an official programme in Bhor taluka, saw the truck plough directly into her vehicle.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as emergency services were promptly alerted to the accident site. Pansare sustained injuries to her leg and shoulder, while her driver, Sunil Khutwad, suffered injuries to his shoulder and hand. Both were swiftly transported to a private hospital for immediate medical attention and are currently recuperating, stable and out of grave danger.

Authorities from the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station swiftly launched an investigation into the alarming incident.

A case has been registered against the truck driver, identified as Amol Popat Ghadge, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), in addition to relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The truck, bearing registration number MH 12 KW 4467, has been impounded as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The incident has sent ripples of concern through the local community, with many expressing relief that the injuries were not more severe. Pansare, a prominent public figure, is now recuperating, and the community hopes for her swift and complete recovery.
