Pune Prepares for Navratri: Essential Traffic Updates for a Smooth Celebration

As Pune prepares to immerse itself in the vibrant nine nights of Navratri, the city's streets are set to witness a breathtaking spectacle of devotion, dance, and cultural revelry. To ensure that these cherished celebrations unfold seamlessly and safely for everyone, the Pune City Police Traffic Branch has unveiled comprehensive plans for traffic diversions and road closures.

From September 22nd to October 2nd, citizens and visitors alike are advised to take note of these crucial changes, particularly around the city's most revered temple areas.

The measures are primarily aimed at managing the anticipated large crowds congregating for darshan and festive activities, ensuring both devotee safety and smoother traffic flow during peak hours.

Key amongst the affected arteries are several prominent roads in the heart of the city, which will experience temporary restrictions, primarily between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM each day.

These include: Laxmi Road, from Hamjekhan Chowk to Garud Ganpati Chowk; Bajirao Road, stretching from Puram Chowk to Futka Buruj; Shivaji Road, from Swargate to Gadgil Chowk; and Kumthekar Road, leading from Ganjwe Chowk to Datta Mandir.

Further diversions will impact Tilak Road (Alka Talkies Chowk to Lokmanya Nagar), Kelkar Road (Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk), Ganesh Road (Laxmi Road to Sonya Maruti Chowk), Guru Nanak Road (Devramnath Chowk to Ganesh Road), and Shastri Road (from Senadatta Police Chowky to Narayan Peth Chowk).

These strategic closures will facilitate unhindered access for pedestrians and devotees, creating a safer environment around popular Navratri destinations like the Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple, Kasba Ganapati Temple, and Guruji Talim.

Commuters are strongly encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and consider using alternative routes during the specified hours.

While public transport might face minor route changes, it remains a viable option for navigating the festive city. For those travelling by private vehicles, limited parking might be available in designated areas slightly away from the core festive zones. However, it's highly recommended to use two-wheelers or walk if visiting the busiest temple areas.
