Police chase ends in fatal crash, suspect killed in Simi Valley neighborhood

On Tuesday morning, officers responded to a 2500‑block of Dusan Street call about a domestic disturbance and alleged assault. When deputies arrived, the suspect – a 37‑year‑old local resident – had already fled the home.

Family members told investigators the man was armed and, before bolting, warned that he would "shoot it out" if police pursued him. The warning proved chillingly accurate.

About four hours later, at roughly 1:35 p.m., officers spotted a white pickup truck near the Simi Valley Town Center that matched the description. When they tried to make a traffic stop, the driver ripped away, sparking a brief pursuit that looped back toward the same neighborhood.

The chase culminated back on Dusan Street, where the pickup slammed into a police motorcycle that had been knocked over earlier. The impact sent the truck careening, and within moments, officers leapt from their patrol cars and opened fire. Witness video captured the unmistakable sound of multiple gunshots and showed the vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

First‑responders found the suspect’s body—covered with a white sheet—lying beside the mangled pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.

Neighbors described the scene as terrifying. One resident recounted hearing “pop, pop, pop” and scrambling to pull her daughter inside. Another, Kyra Ramirez, said she told her grandfather to get inside as the vehicle roared down the street.

The suspect, described by friends as a father who had lived in the area for several years, has not yet been publicly identified. Police are still piecing together the details of the original domestic‑violence incident and the subsequent chase.
